300 bikers add vroom to the Malaysia Day celebrations

MELAKA: The Kembara Hari Malaysia 2022 (Malaysia Day 2022 Expedition) that will tour Melaka on Sept 16 will be joined by some 300 motorcyclists from the country and overseas.

Event chairman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the motorcycle tour involved a distance of 200km and the convoy participants would stop at six places representing each parliamentary constituency in the state.

He said the expedition would start at the Sungai Rambai Rest and Relax (R&R) stop (southbound) at 8.30am and end at Memorial Pengisytiharaan Kemerdekaan (Independence Declaration Memorial) in Bandar Hilir at 5pm.

“With the theme of this year’s National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations being ‘Keluarga Malaysia Teguh Bersama’ (Malaysian Family Stronger Together), it certainly aims to increase the spirit of patriotism and love for our motherland among the Malaysian Family.

“This programme also brings a message for us to appreciate the meaning of independence together and invigorate the atmosphere of the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations,” he told Bernama after an interview session on Melakafm’s Apa Khabar YB programme.

Melaka is the first state in the peninsula to be chosen as host of this year’s Malaysia Day celebration after Sarawak and Sabah previously.

About 20,000 visitors are expected to attend the celebration that will take place at Memorial Pengisytiharaan Kemerdekaan in Banda Hilir and various activities and arts and cultural programmes have been lined up.
