Woman found dead with animal bites

KOTA KINABALU: A woman was found dead with multiple animal bites in Sabah’s east coast Semporna district.

Police were alerted by villagers about the body discovered at a junction in Kampung Batu at 8am on Sunday.

Semporna OCPD Supt Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said when police arrived, they found the 29-year-old woman face down on the ground.

He said checks revealed that the woman had sustained multiple animal bites on her back, right thigh, arm, head, and other parts of her body.

He added that police believed the bites may have been caused by stray dogs.

The body was sent for a post-mortem at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital here on Tues-day.

“Following the autopsy, it was confirmed the cause of death was excessive bleeding due to multiple injuries caused by animal bites,” Supt Mohd Farhan said in a statement yesterday.

“No foul play was involved,” he said, adding that the incident has been filed as a case of sudden death.

He asked those with information on the incident to contact Semporna police station chief’s Insp Mustapha Abdul Majid at 089-782020.

In ALOR GAJAH, Melaka, there is an ongoing police investigation into the remains of a young couple discovered in a car in front of a community hall in Masjid Tanah at about 9.25am yesterday.

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Arshad Abu said the duo, a male aged 20 and a female aged 16, were found in the car parked at the Ayer Limau community hall. The duo were believed to be lovers.

He said the discovery was made at about 7am yesterday, and the bodies have been sent to Hospital Alor Gajah for an autopsy, though initial suspicion points to carbon monoxide poisoning as the likely cause of death.

State deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm Razali Abu Samah said police have ruled out any criminal element in the preliminary findings over the double death.

He said investigation officers are now trying to contact the family members of the deceased.

“We are trying to find out whether their relationship was objected by any of the family members or any other reasons that could have led to the incident,” he said yesterday.

SAC Razali said the girl was sent to meet the man at the community hall at 4pm on Tuesday by a friend of the couple.

He also said the couple had covered their car with a piece of canvass.
