At 80, PSB chief Wong ready and willing to contest Sibu seat in GE15

SIBU: Even at age 80, Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh is ready to contest the Sibu parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election to "fulfil the wishes of the party".

Wong told a press conference after chairing PSB's first central committee meeting on Monday (Sept 5) that he believed he was most suited to represent the people of Sibu in Dewan Rakyat.

“I may be elderly but I think I am most qualified to bring the voice of the Sibu people, and also Sarawak, to Parliament.

“I have done a lot for Sibu and hope to do more as an MP if I am elected," he said.

Wong, who is Bawang Assan assemblyman, said having served Barisan Nasional and Gabungan Parti Sarawak governments for a total of 30 years, he was aware of what needed to be done for Sarawak.

“If the party wants me (to contest in GE15), I will go for it because the party's (wish) is important," he added.

Wong said he had received unanimous support to contest in Sibu from senior members of the party including his deputy Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa, who is Engkilili assemblyman.
