A WOMAN in Seri Manjung, Perak, decided to sacrifice her career to look after her disabled younger brother, reported Kosmo!.
Sharifah Aslinda, 39, said she quit her job so that she could focus on taking care of her younger brother, 37-year-old Syed Shariman Syed Isa, who became bedridden after a road accident in 2010.
“The accident left my younger brother in an almost vegetative state due to serious head injuries. He is unable to move or even speak.
“Seeing his condition, I quit my job to help my parents take care of him,” said Sharifah, adding that her family’s welfare and health remained her priority.
She said one of the challenges of taking care of Syed Shariman was the constant need to monitor his temperature as well as that of his room, as a sudden change could cause him to have seizures.
“Luckily, after all these years of taking care of him, I am now very experienced in handling the seizures. Another time, he caught Covid-19 from a family member.
“Although in a vegetative state, he has shown that he is still very much aware of his surroundings,” she said, adding that there were times when Syed Shariman shed tears when his friends visited.
Sharifah is currently running a small business nearby to cover the family’s cost of living.
> Harian Metro quoted actor Datuk Adi Putra as saying that it was both a challenge and an honour for him to don the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) uniform to play his character in the recently released Air Force The Movie: Selagi Bernyawa.
The 41-year-old actor said he felt like he was being entrusted with the honour of serving the RMAF.
“The RMAF is a proud symbol of our national defence and pride. This pressured me to perform well to showcase the force,” said Adi, who underwent rigorous training for his role.
“I underwent recruit training at the RMAF Jugra Air Base in Banting, Selangor, to mentally and physically prepare myself for the role of an air force pilot.
“The training was meticulous as they wanted us to fully understand and accurately portray the daily life and work of the pilots.
“It was quite tough and tiring as we had to carry a heavy weapon with us. I even sustained some minor injuries,” said Adi.
