Armed Forces nabs six Indonesians who entered country illegally in Kota Tinggi

KOTA TINGGI: The Armed Forces has foiled an attempt by six Indonesians to enter the country illegally through Teluk Ramunia near here.

The Third Malaysian Infantry Division Headquarters said the group was arrested by the Seventh Malaysian Infantry Brigade who also supervised the area during Ops Benteng.

They were hiding in the jungle at Jalan Teluk Ramunia and arrested at 7.30am on Thursday (Aug 25).

"The suspects, all men aged from 29 to 51, are believed to have just arrived in the country via an uncharted route," they said in a statement.

All suspects were taken to the Tanjung Sepang tactical headquarters in Bandar Penawar.

They then tested negative for Covid-19 at the Sungai Rengit Clinic at 10am.

"We also confiscated cash, two watches and six mobile phones worth a total of RM7,317.13," they said.

The suspects were handed over to the Immigration Department in Johor Baru at 3pm.

The Armed Forces also deployed its Quick Reaction Force to continue monitoring the area for any intruders who might have slipped away.
