Former Kelantan MB dies age 82


KOTA BARU: Former Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman, died at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ II), here, at around 3.40pm yesterday. He was 82.

When Bernama contacted Abdul Halim’s daughter, Ahlaama, she said her father had died of a lung infection.

“InsyaAllah, the funeral prayers will be held at the Saadatul Ikhwan Mosque tonight (yesterday), before the burial at the Banggol Muslim Cemetery after Isyak prayers,” she said.

Meanwhile, Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob said the late Abdul Halim was appointed Kelantan deputy mentri besar from 1990 until 2004.

He said Abdul Halim was also a figure who made significant contributions to Kelantan and became one of the important figures from the beginning of the administration of the state government under the Islamic Development Policy.

“The late Abdul Halim also served as a people’s representative, starting as an assemblyman for Banggol from 1986 to 1995.

“He was also the Kijang assemblyman from 1995 to 2004 and Pengkalan Chepa MP from 2004 to 2013. He was also the former treasurer of Central PAS,” he posted on Facebook.

Ahmad said the state government conveyed its deepest condolences to the family of Abdul Halim.
