Johor Barisan ready to take on GE15

JOHOR BARU: Johor Barisan Nasional’s level of preparedness to face the 15th General Election (GE15) is very high, says the coalition election director Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

The Barisan deputy chairman said his assessment follows engagements with the state Barisan leadership.

“It could be because the state election is over and their spirit is still high because it was successful for Barisan.

“If you want to know the level of preparedness, Johor Barisan was at level eight out of 10,” he said after attending a closed-door meeting with state Barisan leaders held at a hotel here yesterday.

Also present were MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, MIC vice-president Datuk M. Asojan, Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, state Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad, and Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

Mohamad said after Johor, he would continue engaging with other states including Melaka, Perak, Pahang before going back to Sabah early next month.

He also said all the component parties and also Barisan-friendly parties would move as one machinery instead of merely representing their respective parties.

“Barisan is a coalition of legitimate political parties, and because of that we will face GE15 and move as a team, not the party machinery but the Barisan machinery,” he added.

Dr Wee said that during the meeting, Hasni said all 26 divisions in Johor were prepared for GE15.

“He was also confident the state government under the leadership of Onn Hafiz would fulfill the needs of Johoreans.

“However, the people of Johor also need a coherent and strong federal government for sustainable development,” he said in a Facebook post.

Dr Wee added that the spirit of togetherness and solidarity between the component parties, which had been the main strength of Barisan, need not only be preserved, but also strengthened.
