On Aug 4, Dr Mahathir announced the setting up of GTA to strengthen the Malays especially in the economic sector field.

The coalition comprises Pejuang, Parti Perikatan India Muslim Nasional, Parti Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia and Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia, and open to participation from NGOs, individuals, academics and professional groups among the Malays.
