Two sworn in as senators

KUALA LUMPUR: Johor MCA deputy chief Datuk Lim Pay Hen and Sarawak’s Padawan Municipal Council deputy chairman Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim have been sworn in as senators.

They took their oaths of office before Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim yesterday.

Lim was re-elected for a second term by the Johor state legislative assembly for a term up to June 25, 2025, while Ahmad is a fresh appointment by the Sarawak state legislative assembly for a three-year term until July 21, 2025.

Rais, in his speech, reminded them to discharge their responsibilities as best as possible, including in the effort to transform Parliament.

“The Dewan Negara is currently going through a transformation phase that requires active participation of the senators, so that the role of the House in fighting for the people is effective,” he said. — Bernama
