Firemen rescue man who fell from Beaufort bridge into river

KOTA KINABALU: Firemen here rescued a man who fell from a bridge in the Beaufort district on Monday (Aug 1).

Fire and Rescue Department personnel were alerted to the incident and rushed to the scene at Jalan Baru Beaufort in time to retrieve the 39-year-old man and pulled him to the riverbank.

The man, who was wearing a helmet, was seen falling from the bridge in dashcam footage time-stamped 6.42pm on Monday.

State Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Misran Bisara said they received a call about the incident at 6.48pm.

“Our officers who were patrolling nearby rescued the man from the river,” he said.

A preliminary medical examination was given and the man was later taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Operations ended at around 7.19pm.
