Single mum harassed by five different ah long due to ex-husband’s debts

KUALA LUMPUR: A 35-year-old single mother from Cheras is being harassed by loan sharks due to her ex-husband’s debts, says Datuk Seri Michael Chong.

The MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head said five different loan sharks or ah long have been harassing the woman, who only wish to be identified as Too.

“Too and her ex-husband have been divorced since 2013. I urge the ah long to leave Too and her family alone as they have nothing to do with the ex-husband anymore.

“We will not hesitate to lodge police reports and bring the ah long to justice if they harm Too and her children,” he said in a press conference Monday (Aug 1).

Chong added that two out of the five loan sharks threatened that they would throw paint at Too’s house and disturb her children if the borrower failed to be detected.

He also urged the loan sharks to make police reports against the borrower as the situation is considered as cheating.

“They (ah long) too need to make police reports because the borrower has cheated them,” Chong said, urging the ex-husband to come forward and own up to his wrongdoings.

Too, who was also at the press conference, pleaded with her ex-husband to leave her family alone as they have separated a long time ago.

“I have my own life, and you too. Please leave us alone,” the mother of two said.

She claimed that her ex-husband, 38, has been using her personal details to borrow money from the loan sharks without her consent.

They have not been in touch since the divorce.

Following the harassment from the loan sharks since July 27, Too lodged a police report out of fear of her family’s safety.
