YONG PENG: A special celebration was held for 59 students with outstanding performance in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.

Among them were two students who scored 11As and seven who achieved 10As.

In an effort to encourage them to continue working hard and perform well, Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong presented them with gifts.

“I hope this will motivate them to continue achieving success in whatever courses they take in their tertiary education,” Dr Wee said on his Facebook page yesterday.

He said some achievers shared their joy and success with their parents at the event, held together with Yong Peng state assemblyman Ling Tian Soon, here.

“I could see that the parents are very proud of their children,” he added.

Dr Wee, who is also Transport Minister and MCA president, encouraged students to plan their future carefully.

“I hope that all the students will take the time to consider their future path, including choosing the subjects they are good at and interested in when furthering their studies.

“When you become successful, do not forget the sacrifices of your parents, and if possible, come back to contribute to your hometown, particularly in Ayer Hitam and Yong Peng,” he added.
