Find out more about study options at fair

Raring to go: Top education providers attending the Star Education Fair virtual balloting session to vie for strategic booths.

PETALING JAYA: Thanks to overwhelming response for the recent Star Education Fair, the popular event is back in the Klang Valley for the second time this year.

Those who missed out on the June fair and those who are interested in exploring their options for life-long learning should not miss out on the event next month.

Once again, top institutions from Malaysia and abroad will be gathering under one roof to answer questions on tertiary education.

This time, visitors can come to find out more about studying in New Zealand.

Education New Zealand, together with eight of their university representatives, will be present for the first time at the fair to share with students about the upcoming intakes and requirements to study in the country.

Education New Zealand’s regional director for Asia Ben Burrowes said they were excited to introduce a range of new education products and programmes for Malaysian students and talk to them about everything New Zealand could offer.

He added that the country recently reopened its borders to foreign tourists and visa processing for international students would restart soon.

“New Zealand is looking forward to welcoming Malaysian students to our shores once again where they can enjoy the benefits of a New Zealand education,” he said, adding that the local communities were eager to have Malaysian students in their midst again.

Education New Zealand is the Diamond sponsor for the fair and will be taking four booths at the fair.

The other big exhibitors are City University Malaysia, Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) and KPJ Healthcare University College.

City University Malaysia deputy vice-chancellor (business development) Assoc Prof Dr Katherine CS Poh said the university would be offering special packages at the fair to ensure that all SPM holders “have the right to education” without having to worry about their fees.

Poh, who is slated to give a talk on “Why choosing the right course is important to pursue a fulfilling career”, said the varsity would be waiving its application fee with a RM3,000 cashback rebate when students register at the fair.

APU Student Services senior director Muhammad Anis Ur Rehman said they were offering deserving and talented school leavers a wide range of fee awards leading to rebates and discounts.

“Our participation in last month’s Star Education Fair at Pavilion Bukit Jalil was a very exciting experience.

“We are looking forward to the upcoming Star Education Fair,” he added.

KPJ Healthcare University College deputy vice-chancellor Prof Dr Zaher Zain said they would be offering scholarships based on merit, which is open to all eligible Malaysians, and a special Dermasiswa scholarship especially for B40 students.

“Dermasiswa recipients enjoy waivers on the difference between total tuition and the PTPTN loan approved for B40 students,” he said, adding that they would also receive RM300 monthly pocket money.

These institutions will be at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre on Aug 27 and 28 for the two-day fair.

A total of 26 universities and colleges attended an online balloting session to vie for strategic booths last week.

The Star Education Fair, widely dubbed as the country’s pioneer education exhibition, has provided visitors with a wide range of local and international courses and options from various institutions.

The fair prides itself in being a one-stop education exhibition for local and foreign exhibitors, offering educational programmes ranging from pre-university, diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate as well as professional and vocational courses.

Visitors can also attend the education talks if they have not decided on which pathway to pursue.

Early birds who register online will stand to win food and beverages from Vanilla Crepe, Linaco and Empire Sushi.
