Cops quiz 11 over abuse case of four-year-old girl


KAJANG: Police have recorded the statements of 11 individuals in the course of investigating a married couple suspected of abusing their four-year-old adopted daughter at a house in Beranang here recently.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said police were still investigating the matter.

"We have recorded the statements of 11 people so far.

"We are investigating the case thoroughly," he said when contacted on Sunday (July 24).

It was reported that a married couple was detained for allegedly abusing the four-year-old girl at a house in Beranang.

The victim was rescued at about 2.30pm on Friday (July 22).

Initial investigations revealed that the abuse occurred after the suspect forced the girl to swallow rice, causing her to vomit.

The victim was also believed to have been hit with a clothes hanger and a broom handle, as well as burnt with a lighter.

The girl was brought to Hospital Kajang for treatment of her injuries.

She is the daughter of an Indonesian woman, who handed the child over to the couple as she could not take care of her.

The couple has been remanded until Thursday (July 28).
