Home buyers snap up RM3.48bil worth of properties in Melaka

MELAKA: Total sales for residential properties in Melaka during the Home Ownership Campaign (HOC) hit a whopping RM3.48bil with 7,165 units sold, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali.

“I have to thank Melaka Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (Rehda) for its commitment in helping the state government build more homes for locals,” he said after launching the Melaka Property Expo at a shopping complex here on Friday (July 22).

Melaka Rehda chairman Datuk Ng Choon Koon was also present.

Sulaiman said 21,511 residential units are currently being developed in the state as well as 11,768 units that are in the planning stage.

He said there were also 630 unsold residential units between January to March with the bulk of 531 units located in the Melaka Tengah district.

“We hope locals will also take the opportunity to visit the expo where 22 local housing developers are promoting 40 new schemes throughout the state,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sulaiman said the state government is in the midst of evaluating Melaka's housing policy based on suggestions by Rehda.

He said the evaluation will also take into consideration the rising cost of building materials and other factors.
