KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah visited the Farnborough Inter-national Airshow 2022 (FIA2022) in Farnborough, the United Kingdom.

According to a post on the Istana Negara Facebook page, His Majesty was greeted upon arrival at 10.30am (local time) on Tuesday by Farnborough International chairman Paul Everitt and Farnborough International’s top officials.

Also present were Chief of Defence Force Jen Tan Sri Affendi Buang, RMAF chief Jen Tan Sri Mohd Asghar Khan Goriman Khan and Malaysian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Zakri Jaafar.

During the visit, each of the companies and organisations that were there gave a briefing to His Majesty.

The King also visited the Malaysia Pavilion, led by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) and joined by 17 Malaysian companies, apart from three government agencies, namely the National Aerospace Industry Coordination Office, Teraju Bumiputera Corporation and Invest Selangor Berhad.

His Majesty also met with British Export Minister Andrew Griffith.

FIA2022 is a week-long biennial event beginning July 18, combining trade shows for the aerospace and defence industries with air shows. Matrade has been participating in this trade show since 2014.

In 2021, Malaysia’s exports of aerospace parts and components totalled RM5.79bil. The major export markets were France, China, and the United Kingdom. — Bernama
