Cops: Discount ad for traffic summons fake

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has rubbished claims that the police and Road Transport Department (JPJ) are offering a 50% discount on traffic compounds.

PDRM secretary Deputy Comm Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department detected an advertisement offering the discount on WhatsApp.

“The advertisement also shows rates and discounts and claims that the offer is valid until July 20.

“It also urges those interested to call a number,” she said in a statement yesterday.

The advertisement is fake, she said, adding that investigations are ongoing to trace the individual responsible.

““The public is urged to check the authenticity of any news over traffic compound discount offers on official police channels,” she added.
