Caregiver flees after elderly woman fell and died

A CAREGIVER is on the run in China after a 94-year-old woman she was looking after fell from her bed and died later.

According to China Press, the caregiver was distracted by her phone when the incident occurred.

In a recent viral video, the caregiver could be seen sitting across the bed while the woman was standing on the mattress, trying to retrieve something from a cabinet.

The caregiver only realised something was wrong after the elderly woman collapsed next to her and became unconscious.

She alerted the woman’s son, known as Gao, after putting her back on the bed.

When Gao rushed home, the woman could no longer speak and kept vomiting.

At the hospital, doctors said she suffered from a fractured skull and internal bleeding.

The woman was pronounced dead at about 1pm later that day.

The nanny fled to her hometown in Anhui soon after the woman was hospitalised.

Gao, who saw what happened from CCTV footage at his home, said the caregiver only sent him a voice message to apologise.

“Because of my busy work schedule, I hired an exclusive caregiver to look after my mother and to keep her safe.

“I never expected her to (have to) go through this,” said Gao, adding that he would not forgive the caregiver or let the matter rest.

The company that provided the nanny service also promised to visit Gao officially when the pandemic situation in Shanghai improved.

> The daily also reported that a 46-year-old woman from Johor Baru took to social media to share her joy of marrying her 24-year-old beau.

The woman, who was unnamed, said they only knew each other for a week before deciding to be together for good.

Despite the 22-year age gap, she said they married on Feb 22 this year.

It is believed that this was not the woman’s first marriage, as she had shared pictures of her son.

While some were sceptical about their union, other users wished them happiness and love.
