SMG chief business officer receives woman leader award

KUALA LUMPUR: Star Media Group (SMG) chief business officer Lydia Wang (pic) received the World Women Media Leadership Award at the World Women Economic and Business Summit 2022.

The award was presented by KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific (KSI) in honour of her achievements and contributions to SMG’s business transformation.

“It is truly humbling to be recognised among so many other well-deserving women.

“At SMG, we are proud to have a legacy of visionary and strong-willed women that reshaped the way things were done.

“They shifted dynamics, broke glass ceilings, and thanks to them, women have a marked presence in SMG today,” said Wang in expressing her appreciation and gratitude to KSI for the recognition yesterday.

Under Wang’s leadership, SMG has pivoted its focus from a traditional print business to offering a full suite of integrated marketing solutions, ranging from high-impact multimedia content to turnkey marketing services backed by data insights and powerful media platforms.

On SMG’s business focus, Wang said innovation is key to meeting the demands of tomorrow through high-impact and results-driven campaigns and initiatives.

“Working with a wide range of notable and up-and-coming brands from various industries, SMG is well placed to understand clients’ needs and help them achieve their marketing goals.

“With our SMG Brand Studio, we can offer effective end-to-end, 360° marketing solutions,” she said.

Beyond products and services innovation, she said SMG’s emphasis on strategic public-private collaborations has paved the way for accelerated economic advancement for local enterprises.

It includes several ongoing projects, which are joint efforts with various key ministries to support the upward local enterprises’ trajectory such as the Export Excellence Awards and Star Outstanding Business Awards, just to name a few.

“We look forward to forging stronger relations with ministries, key stakeholders and consumers alike, and do our part in being better,” said Wang.

The two-day summit, which ends today, is held at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur hotel.
