THE community in Serendah, Selangor, wants to know if a Tamil school and Hindu temple in the area would be affected by the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project, Malaysia Nanban reported.

They urged the government to clarify if the rail alignment would pass through Serendah Baru, where a temple and a piece of land allocated for the construction of the Serendah Tamil School are located along a river.

“The trains may cause noise pollution and vibration, and any expansion (of the project) in the future may affect the houses along the tracks as well,” the residents complained.

They had hoped that officials from the ECRL or relevant government agencies would assure them that they would not be negatively impacted but there have been no discussions so far.

The local community is also concerned about the delayed construction of the Serendah Tamil School.
