SEREMBAN: An officer to a state executive councillor here has confirmed he has been questioned by the police for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman.
Ahmad Shukri Kamaruddin, who is a research officer, said he would give his full cooperation in the probe.
“I was called in by the police on July 5 and 6 and I have been cooperating with them as I want the probe to be as transparent as possible.
“I believe the allegation against me is politically motivated and an act of revenge,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Ahmad Shukri said he would continue to assist the investigation and was also considering legal action to clear his name.
On Tuesday, Seremban police chief Asst Comm Nanda Ma’araof said the woman lodged a report on the alleged incidents last Sunday.
The suspect allegedly committed the offence on two occasions at a hotel here. It is learnt that the incidents allegedly happened on March 30 and April 26.
The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for using force with intent to outrage a victim’s modesty.
Offenders can be jailed up to 10 years or fined or whipped or given any of the two puishments upon conviction.
