Student killed in crash on way to school


MELAKA: A Form Two student was killed on his way to school in an accident in Alor Gajah here.

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Arshad Abu said Muhammad Khiesyam Mohamad Jamel, 14, was on his motorcycle heading to SMK Dato’ Haji Talib Karim when the incident took place at 6.20am yesterday.

The victim, he said, was riding along Jalan Tanai in Air Paaba, when he was hit by a multi-purpose vehicle whose 60-year-old driver was turning into a junction.

He said the victim from Ayer Molek died on the spot.

Some three hours later, a 60-year-old female motorcyclist was killed in another accident in Taman Mutiara.

Supt Arshad said the victim S. Chandra died on the spot in the 9.40am incident.

He said the victim was believed to have grazed the side of a tipper truck driven by a 59-year-old man before falling from her machine and being pinned under a tyre of the vehicle.
