KUALA LUMPUR: China has relaxed the requirement for Malaysians entering the country.
According to the Chinese Embassy here, beginning last Saturday, healthy travellers applying for the health code need only do two tests for Covid-19, instead of three previously.
The tests – nasopharyngeal swab RT-PCR – should be conducted 48 hours and 24 hours before the flight schedule at separate institutions, and the results must be negative.
“For former Covid-19 patients, they must first obtain two tests with negative results, conducted 24 hours apart.
“After 14 days from the second report, they could apply for the health code as healthy travellers,” the embassy announced on its website yesterday.
Close contacts of Covid-19 patients must undergo quarantine for five days before applying for the health code as healthy travellers if no symptoms arise during the period.
With the relaxation, the PCR tests can now be conducted at any licensed institution in Malaysia. These institutions must be able to provide the QR code for the test results.
Before this, applicants could only go to the few dozen outlets appointed by the embassy.
Meanwhile, China has also opened up visa applications for Malaysians heading to the country to work, family members of Malaysians working there, as well as those on business and technology-exchange visits, among others.
Visa applications have also opened for foreign family members of Chinese citizens or permanent residents, with family members including spouses, parents, parents-in-law, children, children-in-law, grandparents and grandchildren.
