Silat a treasured heritage that must be preserved, says Reezal Merican

KEPALA BATAS: Silat, a form of traditional martial arts, is a treasured heritage in the Malay culture that needs to be preserved, says Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.

He said silat has been recognised as the country’s third bastion of defence and listed under the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity category by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco).
