PETALING JAYA: The vote-buying allegations leveled against Ampang PKR chief candidate Datuk Hans Isaac are an attempt to tarnish his reputation and good name, says his political officer Nadhirah Farhanah.

Nadhirah stressed that Hans, who narrowly edged out his closest competitor Altimet in the division re-election, has never resorted to money politics to garner votes.

“It must be reiterated that, Datuk Hans Isaac was never involved (in vote buying) and is (therefore) dismissing all allegations and false accusations,” she said in a brief statement Friday (July 1).

Hans will submit a report and his statement to the relevant authorities, including the PKR election commission, to scrutinise the baseless allegations and clear the air.

It was reported that a PKR member had lodged a complaint against the actor turned politician that there were alleged elements of money politics to secure votes.

The complainant said he identified the perpetrators as being from Hans Isaac’s team as they were wearing wristbands with his campaign motto “Ayuh Ampang Baru.”

According to unofficial results, Hans won with a razor thin margin of two votes against his closest competitor and fellow celebrity Syed Ahmad Abdul Rahman, or Altimet, in the re-election.

The hip hop artist has also submitted a request for a recount.

A re-election was held after Daing Muhammad Reduan Bachok, who originally won the division polls, was found to have been involved in “vote buying.”
