Johor MCA deputy chairman picked to be appointed Senator

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Johor MCA deputy chairman Datuk Lim Pay Hen has been chosen to be appointed as a Senator by the state assembly here.

His appointment to join the Dewan Negara for three years was suggested by Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and supported by Buloh Kasap assemblyman Datuk Zahari Sarip.

"Lim has been an active MCA leader for many years and has vast experience. He is also deeply respected by the people of Johor for his active participation in various non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

"He has also served as the special officer to a former deputy prime minister between 2009 and 2015," said Onn Hafiz after proposing Lim's name at the state assembly sitting here Sunday (June 26).

Lim, 65, had previously served as a Senator for three years from 2017.

Meanwhile, in a statement, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong congratulated Lim on his appointment.

"I am confident that he would be able to shoulder the trust given to him well for the benefit of the people and country, especially those in Johor.

"I would also like to thank Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi for giving the trust to Lim as a member of the Dewan Negara and to serve the people of Johor," he said in a Facebook post on Sunday (June 26).
