Pistol and bullets discovered at shootout scene


KUALA LUMPUR: A pistol and 13 bullets were discovered at the scene of a shootout between the police and a robbery gang in Salak Selatan recently which killed one of them.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said police returned to the scene on Tuesday (June 21) and conducted another round of inspections.

“We discovered a loaded Smith and Wesson revolver as well as seven more rounds of ammunition in a vehicle parked near the crime scene.

"We believe the gun belongs to the suspect," he said in a statement on Friday (June 24).

The shootout occurred on June 18, and in a follow-up operation, police arrested eight others including a woman in several locations in the Klang Valley.

The dead suspect had been previously detained for 26 cases including robberies, murders and arson since 2004.

Police also seized a hand grenade and a CZ 75 compact pistol from the site.

Comm Azmi urged those with information on the case to contact the CID operation centre at 03-2146 0685, investigating officer Asst Supt Mohd Hasni Hussin at 019-998 4444, KL police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or any nearest police station.

"We hope the public can assist the investigation by cooperating," he said.
