JOHOR: The surau at Kampung Desa Jaya will be rebuilt to cater to the needs of the locals here, said Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic).
"The Johor government has allocated RM50,000 to rebuild the wooden surau and I have allocated RM20,000 for 2021 and 2022, to go towards rebuilding this surau.
"The surau committee informed me that they managed to collect donations from the public for the purpose of rebuilding the surau as well," he said in a Facebook post on Sunday (June 19).
Dr Wee, who was visiting the surau, said it was old and would be redone for the locals.
The Transport Minister said he hoped the construction of this surau would run smoothly and quickly according to the set schedule.
Dr Wee also took the opportunity to visit two residents there who have been unwell.
He visited a 66-year-old who has chronic lung disease and another former soldier who has a leg injury sustained during an accident.
"They have to travel back and forth to clinics and hospitals for treatment. I extended a little help and gave words of encouragement to them while praying for their immediate recovery," he said.
