Five escape unhurt as ambulance rams into cows

KOTA KINABALU: A medical team accompanying their patient to a health facility were fortunate not to end up in hospital themselves after the ambulance they were travelling in crashed into a herd of cows in Kota Belud district.

“The cows, however, were not so lucky as all four were killed on the spot,” said Kota Belud OCPD Supt Shahrudin Mat Husain.

He said the accident happened at 4am yesterday when a doctor and a nurse were escorting a patient, who was accompanied by a relative, from the Kudat Hospital in north Sabah to another hospital in the state capital.

He added that the ambulance was passing through Jalan Kota Belud-Kota Marudu when the cows suddenly darted across the road.

He said those in the ambulance, which had substantial damage to its front, escaped unhurt.
