Actor remanded for beating up neighbour in Segambut

KUALA LUMPUR: A well-known actor has been detained and remanded for three days in connection with assaulting a man at a condominium in Segambut.

The suspect, in his mid-30s, who is a resident of the same condominium, had allegedly assaulted a fellow resident of the condominium at about 8.30pm on Thursday (June 16).

Kuala Lumpur CID chief Senior Asst Comm Habibi Majinji said the victim had asked his friend to purchase cooking oil outside of the condominium premises.

"When the victim's friend arrived to deliver the cooking oil, he was not allowed to enter the condominium by a security guard," he said when contacted on Saturday (June 18).

SAC Habibi said the victim then went to the lobby to inquire why his friend was not allowed to enter.

"We believe the victim had quarrelled with the guard when the actor suddenly intervened by punching and kicking him.

"The victim claimed that the actor punched and kicked him in the face, chest, stomach and back as well as threatened to kill him," he said.

The victim lodged a police report at Sentul district police headquarters and the actor was subsequently detained on Friday (June 17), SAC Habibi said.

"He has been remanded until Monday (June 20) to assist the investigation," he added.
