Unemployed man nabbed in Perak drug bust following viral video


IPOH: A 46-year-old unemployed man was arrested at a house in Chenderong Balai after a video depicting drugs abuse went viral on Facebook.

Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said the man was arrested on Wednesday (June 8) at about 5pm after the video went viral on the "I Love Teluk Intan" Facebook page.

"We made the arrest from information shared from the short video clip.

"A check on the man's body found four transparent plastic bags containing 27.75g of drugs, believed to be heroin," he said in a statement.

"The drugs were found in a black duffel bag that was slung on his shoulder," he said, adding that the drugs were worth RM832.50.

"The man also tested positive for morphine," he added.

ACP Ahmad Adnan said the man confessed to owning the drugs.

He said his drug supplier was known as Apoi and gets his fix in Langkap," he said, adding that the man has 16 priors on his criminal record, which included theft, not carrying his identity card and drug-related offences.

"We are now trying to find the supplier," he said.

"The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act," he added.
