IPOH: The suspect who chopped his mother into 15 pieces and threw the body parts thrown into a sewage tank is believed to be suffering from mental problems, says Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid.

The Perak police chief said the 68-year-old victim’s daughter had lodged a police report a few days back saying that her mother had gone missing.

He said the daughter, who stays elsewhere, usually called her mother daily, and when she called on May 28, the 42-year-old suspect answered, and told her that she (the mother) had left the house, and not returned home yet.

“After the missing persons report was lodged, the police went to the victim’s house to check.

“However, since the mother and son collected used items and recyclables, the house was in a mess, and after questioning the suspect, the police left the house.

“Then on Saturday (June 4), a neighbor contacted the police saying that the stench coming from the victim’s house was unbearable,” he told reporters at a sports event he attended launched by Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu on Sunday (June 5).

Comm Mior Faridalathrash added when policemen checked the house, they found wooden planks covering the sewerage area at the back of the house.

“When the planks were removed, the forensic team discovered the body parts.

“We also found several murder weapons at the site,” he said.

He added that police believe the suspect hit his mother’s head, before she collapsed.

“Only after that did he chop her into pieces,” he added.

Earlier, Comm Mior Faridalathrash had said that the body parts were found in the tank of a house in Taman Kerian, Parit Buntar, on Saturday.

He had said that the cut-up body parts were found by the police after receiving a report on the incident at about 3.30pm on Saturday.

The case has been classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, and the suspect would be remanded on Sunday.
