KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah have conveyed their condolences to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar over the demise of his wife.
“Their Majesties pray that her soul be showered with blessings by Allah SWT and placed with the righteous,” Istana Negara quoted Their Majesties as saying on its Facebook.
Datin Seri Feona Sim @ Norjanah, 70, died of internal bleeding at a private medical centre in Kuching, Sarawak, at 6pm on Friday.
According to a Bernama report, she married Wan Junaidi on Sept 9, 1972. They are blessed with three daughters.
She was buried at the Semariang Islamic Cemetery in Kuching yesterday.
In a Facebook post, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong also conveyed his condolences to the family of Wan Junaidi.
He remembered her as a friendly and soft-spoken person.
“She was a loyal friend to Wan Junaidi. Feona was always by her husband’s side at most official functions,” he wrote.
Dr Wee said that his family got to know Feona when she and her husband attended the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Conference in New York for three weeks in 2005.
“Wan Junaidi and I were then backbenchers sent by the government to attend the UNGA Conference to understand the multilateral affairs of the country at the United Nations,” he added.
Dr Wee also uploaded a picture that was taken with Feona when attending a banquet at Istana Negara a few months ago.
