THE son of King of Mandopop Jay Chou (pic) appears to have inherited his father’s talent for composing music after he was spotted drawing musical notations at home, reported Sin Chew Daily.

Chou shared a video of his five-year-old son Romeo drawing what appears to be quarter notes and eighth notes on a piece of paper using a red pen.

“Do you guys believe in past life? #mozart #chopin,” Chou wrote in the caption, implying that his son inherited his musical ability from his past life as a famous composer.

In the video, Chou could be heard asking: “Do you already have the melody in your heart?”

The video warmed the hearts of fans, with many saying they hoped to hear his compositions some day in the future.

“Romeo, are you writing your daddy’s next hit song?” one fan wrote.

Chou is married to Taiwanese-Australian actor Hannah Quinlivan. They also have a daughter Hathaway, 6.

Quinlivan is currently pregnant, and they are expecting their third child later this year.

> Some 270 new contract teachers will be sent to Chinese vernacular schools after the Hari Raya holidays in a bid to address the perennial shortage of teachers, according to Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The Deputy Education Minister said that according to information from the Education Service Commission, these teachers will begin serving at their respective schools between May 14 and 18.

In addition to that, another 425 undergraduates of the Bachelor of Education (PISMP) programme will be graduating in June and the ministry will be sending them to schools soon.

“We believe these measures will help alleviate the issue of shortage of teachers at Chinese vernacular schools,” he told reporters during a press conference on Thursday after attending a meeting with the Chinese Language Council, the United Chinese School Committees’ Association of Selangor and Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala as well as the respective directors of the Selangor and Wilayah Persekutuan State Education Departments.

Dr Mah called for more effective communication between school boards at Chinese vernacular schools as well as at the State Education Department to better resolve issues at schools.
