BUTTERWORTH: There is no limit how far a father will go to keep his kids safe and happy, especially during this pandemic.
One such father who went the extra mile is businessman Hor Thiam Aik, 38, who treated both his children and their cousins to an afternoon of splashing fun when he brought home a “theme park” as he did not want to expose them to outdoor activities due to the current surge in Covid-19 cases.
He rented an inflatable playhouse with a slide and pool for his five-year-old daughter and two-year-old son and their cousins to enjoy at his house in Taman Simpah here.
“It has been two years since the children last went to a theme park due to Covid-19 concerns.
“Now with cases rising again, we are reducing our outdoor activities. I recently saw an advertisement on social media about this inflatable playhouse for rent and immediately contacted the provider,” he said.
Hor said despite there being many models to choose from, he finally managed to get one that fit his garden.
“It costs RM200 for eight hours and the provider helped with the setting up. Now my children are running up and down, screaming and enjoying it so much.
“The pool is filled with water and colourful balls, and a slide for them to splash into the water.
“We get to supervise them from the house and meals are readily available in the kitchen.
“With their cousins around to join in, their bond is better and they get to experience similar thrills of a mini-theme park without being exposed to any risk of infection outside,” said Hor.
His son Yong Kuan was seen enjoying himself as it was the first time he was involved in such an activity.
