GEORGE TOWN: The rise of the Omicron variant has caused many cancellations of hotel bookings, especially for events, says the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH).
Its chief executive officer Yap Lip Seng said the Omicron has made things worse for its members who are already dealing with low demand, with average occupancy among MAH members below 40%.
