More than one in 10 KL teens cannot afford to buy feminine hygiene products, Senate told


KUALA LUMPUR: Studies carried out by the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry relating to period poverty, involving teenagers and women from the B40 group here has found that 13.1% of them cannot afford to buy feminine hygiene products.

“This pilot study involved teenagers and women aged 13 to 24 in 13 People’s Housing Project (PPR) communities and two Social Welfare Department institutions,” its Deputy Minister Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff said during the Question Time in the Dewan Negara here on Wednesday (Dec 15).
