ISKANDAR PUTERI: A total of RM1.5mil worth of tourism vouchers will be up for grabs from Friday (Nov 5) as part of the Johor state government's initiative to kickstart travel activities in the state.
Johor tourism, youth and sports committee chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the Johor Tourism Vouchers are available to all Malaysians planning to come and spend their holidays in Johor.
"Members of the public can start claiming these vouchers from 10am on Nov 5 until Nov 30.
"Each RM100 voucher can be claimed through the Johor Tourism Interchange app that is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store," he told a press conference at Sunway Hotel here on Tuesday (Nov 2).
He added that members of the public can choose from 212 tourism packages, highlighting the various attractions around the state, to redeem the vouchers.
"The packages are divided into three themes, namely: Nature Escapade, where families can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery around Johor; Family Fun, where families can enjoy their time at our theme parks and hotels; and Heritage and Culture, where families can come and explore the various cultures and traditions in the state," he explained.
He added that the voucher initiative is the first phase of the state government's tourism recovery initiative and will be extended if the feedback is positive.
"If this initiative is successful, I don’t think there would be a problem if we asked for an additional allocation from Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad.
"This will also act as our benchmark to gauge our readiness to accept not only domestic tourists but also international tourists," he added.
