PETALING JAYA: Malaysia needs an inclusive digital transformation to create a vibrant digital economy, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
He noted that the country had the capacity to turn the Covid-19 crisis into new opportunities to build a more inclusive, resilient and sustainable future.
“We are now in a new normal and as such, connectivity must be a top priority and stakeholders such as telcos, industry verticals, multinational corporations as well as governmental and non-governmental organisations must mobilise to develop strategies to accelerate digital inclusion.”
The minister said this in his special address at the virtually held Second Malaysia Digital Economy Summit 2021 yesterday.
Annuar said digital economy had a crucial role in assisting Malaysia to regain its competitive edge.
“Technology adoption and innovation will be the building blocks to spur growth across all sectors,” he added.
The adoption of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0) technologies, he said, would be encouraged under the 12th Malaysia Plan, which aimed to maximise the potential of the nation’s digital economy.
“The talents and skills required to drive both the digital economy and IR4.0 will be enhanced while research, development, commercialisation and innovation will be intensified,” he added.
