KOTA KINABALU: Papar has become the latest district to be declared an African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak zone in Sabah after the virus was detected in Kampung Kogopon and Kampung Purak last month.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan said the ASF virus was to blame for the deaths of 91 backyard pigs in the two villages over a two-week period that began in the middle of September. The losses are estimated at RM50,000.
