Wee bids ministry and staff farewell

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic) says he is grateful to everyone in the Transport Ministry (MOT) for their assistance during a difficult period.

In a farewell message, the outgoing transport minister said: “Holding a large portfolio in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic was certainly difficult, but with the spirit of teamwork, things turned out smoothly to ensure the transport industry remained strong.

“I am happy to have been able to work with the team in MOT despite facing challenging conditions.”

Dr Wee said he had a virtual meeting with his former deputy Datuk Hasbi Habibollah, ministry secretary-general Datuk Isham Ishak and other ministry staff before signing off.

“I am proud of the MOT management... who have been easy to work with and a sec-gen who displayed good leadership.

“I’ve tried my best. I apologise for any shortcomings throughout the one year and seven months and five days I’ve served at the MOT.

“I pray for the people at the MOT to continue to prosper and succeed in realising the vision of ‘Sustainable Transport System the Heart of National Development’,” he added in a Facebook post yesterday.

Dr Wee, who is the Ayer Hitam MP, also thanked Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for his trust and confidence in him to helm the ministry.

“Thank you also to my Cabinet colleagues who have been working together to restore the country and defend the people.

“May we be able to go through the difficult times and have a better life in the future. Take care and stay safe everyone!” he concluded.
