PETALING JAYA: The number of poor households has increased to 639,800 in 2020 from 405,400 households in 2019 due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, says the Statistics Department.
Chief statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said a majority of households experienced a decline in income with many households from a higher income group shifting to a lower one.
