Decomposed body found in ditch in Tanah Merah


TANAH MERAH (Bernama): A bloated and decomposed body of a man was found in a ditch at Kampung Air Asahah here on Friday (July 30) morning.

Tanah Merah district police chief DSP Zainuddin Md Yusoff said the maggot-infested body was found by members of the public at 11.45am before alerting the police.

"When the police arrived at the spot, the deceased was found lying in a supine position, shirtless and wearing a pair of shorts. No identification documents were found on the victim,” he told Bernama today.

Zainuddin said the badly decomposed body was sent to Tanah Merah Hospital for a post-mortem.

He added the police are conducting further investigations to identify the cause of the incident and the victim’s identity.
