Ipoh Immigration arrest seven for prostitution at Jalan Raja Ekram hotel

IPOH: The Perak Immigration Department has arrested six foreign women and a local man believed to be involved in prostitution at a hotel on Jalan Raja Ekram here.

Department director Hapdzan Husaini said the women, aged between 25 and 31, were from Laos, Thailand, China and Vietnam while the 34-year-old man is believed to be their pimp.

"When we arrived, several rooms were found locked.

"We were forced to break down several of the doors because the foreign women refused to cooperate," he said in a statement on Wednesday (July 28).

"In each room, we found condoms believed to be used during their sexual activities.

"They are believed to charge between RM250 and RM300 for 45mins," he added.

Hapdzan said the raid was part of a two-day operation that was launched here on Tuesday (July 27).

He said 10 other foreign workers, from Indonesia, Bangladesh and Vietnam, were also arrested at various locations, including nine houses, a sundry shop and at a roadblock.

"We checked a total of 65 people. Those arrested are aged between 25 and 40.

"Those arrested will be investigated under the Immigration Act for not having valid travelling documents, overstaying their permit, harbouring illegal foreigners and working illegally while under a social visit pass," he added.
