Covid-19: SilverVax programme meant for private companies, not general public, says Perak MB

IPOH: Vaccines procured by the state under Majuperak Holdings Bhd are meant for private company workers and not the general public, says Datuk Saarani Mohamad.

The Perak Mentri Besar said under the SilverVax programme, the vaccine will be sold to any company that wants to immunise their employees after getting feedback from various industries.

"We get requests from various industries that want to vaccinate their staff as some felt it was too long to wait for their turn.

"When the Federal Government allowed some seven million doses to be sold, we took the opportunity to accept the offer," he said during a virtual press conference on Wednesday (July 28).

"Majuperak Holdings, a subsidiary of the state development corporation, will buy the vaccine and sell it to any company that wants it.

"It is complementary (to the national immunisation programme). Anyone who wants to get it quickly can buy it. No one is forced to buy," he added.

On a viral message that four areas here - Taman Impiana Adril, Taman Rishah, Taman Pertama, Taman Kledang Suria - are being considered to be placed under the enhanced movement control order, Saarani said he has yet to receive information about it.

He said studies have been conducted on whether the move was needed, but there are no announcements for now.
