MBSP enforcer praised for showing softer side

BUKIT MERTAJAM: On duty at the Taman Selamat market to enforce the Covid-19 SOP, Seberang Prai City Council (MBSP) enforcement officer Mazlipah Abd Majid (pic), 53, showed her softer side.

Seeing an old woman, who is in her 80s, trying to cross the road, Mazlipah quickly rushed over to help her.

“When I asked her where she wanted to go, she pointed to the other side of the road.

“I then helped her to cross the road as she looked weak and fragile,” she said at the MBSP headquarters here recently.

Mazlipah said the woman was accompanied by her disabled daughter, in her 40s, who was holding a plastic bag containing some items.

“When I saw the old lady, she actually reminded me of my ageing mother in Parit Buntar,” she said.

A photograph of Mazlipah helping the old woman and her daughter on July 15 was captured by a member of the public and later uploaded onto the Persatuan Kebajikan Sheng Xian Malaysia’s Facebook page, drawing a lot of praise from netizens.

Mazlipah’s effort also did not go unnoticed as she was also rewarded with a letter of appreciation by her employer.

Mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud said MBSP was proud to have such an exemplary employee.

“We are not an agency which knows only how to enforce law and order... we also have a heart for our employees and the public,” he said.
