GEORGE TOWN: Unknown assailants attacked Penang Hindu Endowment Board (PHEB) executive director Datuk M. Ramachandran at his home.
PHEB chairman Dr P. Ramasamy said three or four individuals had attacked the victim after he got out of his car at about 7pm on Friday.
Ramasamy said the 70-year-old suffered cuts all over his body but added his condition was not described as serious.
“He was admitted to the Emergency Ward of Hospital Bukit Mertajam after the incident. I visited him around 10pm, even managing to have a few words with him.
“He was conscious enough to ask me whether he was attacked or not and I told him he was attacked,” he said yesterday.
Ramasamy said the victim was then transferred to Hospital Seberang Jaya.
“A police report was made by his wife and son-in-law after the incident and police are looking for possible suspects behind the attack,” he added.
Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Shafee Abd Samad said the incident happened at Taman Alma in Machang Bubok.
He urged witnesses to contact Insp Sobirin at 018-292 6844 to assist in investigations.
