Four teens nabbed for reckless riding

KEPALA BATAS: Four teenagers have been detained here for riding their motorcycles in a dangerous manner.

North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the suspects, aged between 13 and 16, were arrested during Ops Samseng Jalanan along Jalan Lahar Kepah at about 6.50pm on Saturday (July 24).

"During the operation, police spotted four motorcycles racing and doing dangerous stunts such as wheelies.

"They were stopped and detained at the side of Jalan Lahar Kepah," he said in a statement on Sunday (July 25).

ACP Noorzainy said three of the suspects are still in secondary school while another, a school dropout, was detained under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for recklessness.

He said all the teenagers were brought to North Seberang Prai police headquarters for further investigation.

He urged the public, especially teenagers, not to turn roads into racetracks and pose a danger not just to themselves but to other road users.

"Members of the public can channel the information on road offences or any other criminal cases to North Seberang Prai headquarters at 04-5741421 or lodge a report at (the nearest) police station," he said.
