KUANTAN: The Pahang government is offering a house for eight siblings whose parents died due to Covid-19.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the Rumah Rakyat Pahang (RRP) worth RM65,000 would be built in the hometown of the siblings' mother and grandparents in Felda Kota Gelanggi 2, Jerantut.
"While waiting for the house to be completed, a temporary rental house will be provided and paid for by the state government,” said Wan Rosdy.
"I am saddened and sympathetic to the fate of these eight siblings. The eldest, Nazurah Nabilah Benyajeed (pic), is just 19-years-old while her siblings are four to 18-years-old. They are now staying at a rented home with their aunt in Rawang, Selangor," he added on Saturday (July 24).
The siblings' 45-year-old father Benyajeed Bernie died on July 16 while their 43-year-old mother Noraini Ibrahim died on July 18.
Wan Rosdy said the state government was making this offer in order to have the siblings stay in the same house with their aunt, who would also be given a monthly allowance.
In addition, he said Yayasan Pahang and the Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council would finance the education of those still in school, while the Pahang Social Welfare Department was prepared to list them as monthly beneficiaries.
"My officer has already contacted Nazurah and I hope this offer will be accepted," said Wan Rosdy.
