Sarawak to move into Phase Two of NRP on Wednesday (July 14)

SIBU: Sarawak will enter Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) on Wednesday (July 14).

The state disaster management committee said the decision was made after a risk assessment exercise it conducted with the National Security Council (NSC).

The exercise took into account the three indicators of the NRP, namely the number of Covid-19 cases in the state, percentage of population vaccinated and moderate usage of intensive care unit beds.

"The current standard operating procedure (SOP) remains in effect until 11.59pm on July 13," the committee said in a statement on Monday (July 12).

Details of the SOP for Phase Two would be made available by NSC at its website

"Congratulations to all who worked together to help Sarawak move on to Phase Two.

"Our appreciation is also extended to all parties and staff who worked hard to ensure the smooth vaccination process throughout the state," it said.

The committee also urged the public to continue to adopt preventive measures and self-discipline to break the chain of Covid-19 infections.

Under Phase Two, eateries will be able to offer dine-ins.

Other activities or businesses allowed to resume operations under Phase Two include barbershops, electrical shops, car washes, fashion boutiques, Sunday markets, phone retail and accessory shops, flower shops, furniture shops and cybercafes.

Operating hours will be from 6am to 10pm while permitted workforce capacity for the private sector will be increased to 50% from 30% under Phase One.
